The basic storyline: The auto-bots must now fight a new decepticon, Maximus prime. Maximus prime wants to catch four minibots to make a weapon of unlimited strength. With the help of Sam wikwicky the auto-bots find one and now they must fight an army of decepticons.

New Characters: Soundwave is intended to be a new major character in the sequels, with his presence allowing a proper introduction of mass-shifting.One idea is that soundwave could be an lincoln navigator or a different SUV with a giant sound system in the boot, as this will show soundwaves true size. Producer Tom DeSanto has "a very cool idea on how to introduce the Dinobots and Constructicons (remembering of course that their combined form, Devastator's name has already been given to a tank in the first movie, and bonecrusher is already in the first film, which was the name of one of the constructicons. which could cause problems)." Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura felt production would be quicker as the design aesthetics had been worked out. If he decides to helm a sequel, Bay may put in an aircraft carrier character, an idea which was previously too expensive for the first film.

Rumors: Megatron comes back as Galvatron

The battle for Earth has ended but the battle for the universe has just begun. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots with reinforcements of their own, may have more to deal with then meets the eye.
